Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

Our address is: Unit D, Ridgeway Trading Estate, Feckenham Road, Astwood Bank, Redditch, B96 6DS. We are located just off the main road down a little alley in between the Premier Express and the Ridgeway Surgery.

Do you have parking?

Free parking is available but very limited, we recommend parking at the free car park at Astwood Children's park which is about a two minute walk from the studio.

What do I wear to class?

For pole classes we recommend wearing shorts and a sports bra or top. Leggings can be worn for some beginner classes and flow classes but once you start working on climbs or seats you will need shorts so that you have leg grip on the pole. Please avoid moisturising or wearing fake tan on the day of your class as it will make it harder to grip the pole.

For aerial classes we recommend form fitting clothing, a sports top, vest, leggings and bare feet. We strongly advise against any loose clothing for aerial hoop or silks classes.

For all classes we ask you to remove any jewellery that could damage our equipment or yourself.

For pole dance classes we recommend heels and kneepads from PoleJunkie.

Where can I buy pole-specific clothes from?

There are lots of places online where you can buy clothes specifically designed for pole from including lots of small businesses. We recommend taking a look at PoleJunkie. PoleJunkie is like the Amazon for pole and aerial students, you can buy outfits, accessories, kneepads and heels.

What classes do you offer?

We teach a wide variety of pole fitness and dance classes, as well as aerial hoop and aerial silk classes, and flexibility classes. You can explore all of our classes here.

Do you offer memberships?

Yes! We offer pay as you go classes as well as monthly memberships with great perks and class packs to suit everyone.

What are the age limits on your classes?

On TeamUp you’ll be able to see what age range our classes are suitable for. We have some dedicated children’s aerial classes but the majority of our classes are for people who are 18 and older. There is no upper age limit on classes! Anyone can learn pole and aerial even well into their 70s!

What should I bring to classes?

We recommend bringing a bottle of water with you, and a small towel, like you would for the gym. Some students also use grip aids, similar to liquid chalk, to help grip the pole better. You can explore different grip aids here.

What are grips aids?

Grip aids are products used to help improve your grip on the pole, especially if you have sweaty hands or are finding it hard to hold certain moves. They come in different forms such as liquids, creams, sprays, or powders, and are applied to your hands, body, or both. Everyone’s skin is different, so it might take a bit of trial and error to find the one that works best for you. Grip aids can be super helpful, but please make sure you clean your poles after your class!

Do I need to be fit or need a lot of upper body strength?

You absolutely do NOT need to be super strong to start your journey with us! The strength comes with time and practice, our instructors will help you develop the skills you need for your pole/aerial journey.

How do I book a class?

All you need to do is visit our timetable page and set up a TeamUp account. There you can view the class timetable, book classes and manage your membership.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, we have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your class with less than 48 hours notice or don’t show up to a class you will not be entitled to a refund and if booking through a membership you will lose that credit. We ask that students book in advance so our instructors can plan their lessons more effectively for your needs.

How many people do you have in your classes?

On TeamUp you can see the maximum number of people allowed in each class. This is to ensure everyone gets the attention they need from our experienced instructors and to keep you safe. If you are booking with a friend, you both need to create a TeamUp account and book a class.

Is pole only for women?

Not at all! Pole is for everyone regardless of sex, gender identity, sexuality, race, body type, or background. At Studio Flare, we believe that movement has no limits, and we’re proud to offer a space where everyone feels welcome, respected, and included. Whether you're here to build strength, try something new, or just have fun, you're always welcome in our community.

Do you offer pole party classes?

Yes we do! We offer a variety of party class options whether you’re celebrating a bachelorette party, birthday party or Christmas party! We’ve even been asked to host a divorce party before! Our packages can be tailored to any occasion you’re celebrating – you can find more information here. We also offer children's parties too.

What if I’m really nervous?

The vast majority of people who start a new hobby or sport are nervous – it’s completely normal! Everyone in the studio at one point or another was brand new to it just like you, so they know how daunting it can be. We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so instructors will always be able to give you options to work on. And it’s completely normal to not get everything for the first time in pole. Sometimes it takes months or even years to achieve new tricks or spins, but it’s so worth it!
